… when it comes to voting, when we only have two choices, you’ve got to grow up and realize there’s a big difference between a disappointing friend and a deadly enemy. Of course the Democrats are disappointing. That’s what makes them Democrats. If they were any more frustrating they’d be your relatives.
But in this country they are all that stands between you and darkest night. You know why their symbol is the letter “D”? Because it’s a grade that means good enough, but just barely.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — this country doesn’t have much popular support for the real left, not yet. Democrats may be weak tea when we crave fortified whiskey, but at least it’s better than poison. We may be saddened when they fail, but at least they’ll try for us.
Republicans will ruin the entire world for temporary gain. Nothing will stop them but a lack of power. And that’s why I’ll vote Dem time and time again; because until we have a real, viable Democratic Socialist, Socialist Worker’s Party, Green Party or Labour Party, they’re the best we have.

Michele Bachmann speech at a battered women’s shelter in Winterport, ME (2009)
“Michael was actually naked underneath his night shirt right there. There were a lot more requests from the executives at the studios to go on set that day. I think they were hoping we would go without the shirt too.”— Cary Fukunaga’s commentary on filming the scene where Rochester puts pants on after Jane saves him from the fire. (via alwaysbeenwithyou)
